Green Fingers - St Matthews Matters Home Of St Matthews TRA
Green Fingers Growing Club
St Matthews Estate Green Fingers Growing Club was formed on the 12th November 2011 in response to requests by residents for somewhere to grow flowers and vegetables. Several people have already joined the club and even more have expressed an interest in doing so.
The club is open to anyone who lives within the St Matthews Triangle and residents are welcome to participate on whatever level they wish. We especially welcome families who would like to give their children a chance to get their hands dirty in a positive way.
We have a communal plot next to Springett House and have now worked it for our first season with mixed results. Due to last summer's rain and cold spring we, like everyone else, have fought slug battles but still managed to get some decent crops, especially of tomatoes.
If you like the idea and would like to join, catch us at the plot or please come to one of our T.R.A. meetings and let us know or join us on facebook on St Matthews T.R.A.
The meetings are held the second Wednesday of every month at 7.30pm in the Tenants Hall on St Matthews Road.
