About St Matthews Estate T.R.A

St Matthews Estate T.R.A

St Matthews Estate Tenants and Residents Association was formed in the 1980s by, among others, Sheila Draper and Dorothy Darnton. The Tenants Hall on St Matthews Road was built in 1988 as a result of the T.R.A's hard and dedicated work. The aim of the T.R.A has always been to enable the residents of our estate to come together, share news and problems and to give us a voice regarding our own local area. Much has already been done but we still have some way to go. The T.R.A also raise funds for diverse projects on our estate such as children's activities and the Green Fingers Club. We are always looking for new ways of doing this and we welcome any ideas or help our members can give. The Tenants Hall on St Matthews Road is available for hire and is suitable for parties and other activities. To enquire about hiring the hall, please contact us via email or visit in person.

Anyone who lives within St Matthews Triangle, including Waldron, Mannering and Wells Houses, is welcome to join the T.R.A. If you are a Lambeth Living tenant it is free as Lambeth contributes £2/per household every year to the T.R.A to help with bills and admin costs.

If you are a leaseholder, live in a Housing Association dwelling or rent privately you can still join but we will ask you to contribute the £2/year/household fee towards the costs of running the T.R.A.

The Newsletter

In the old days, before we had computers and the www, our newsletters had to be typed on an old-fashioned typewriter, cut up into sections and then pasted onto another piece of paper before being photocopied. It was a laborious process and difficult to change once you had committed yourself to the content. Today the whole process is so much smoother. As a new generation of tenants have taken over the running of the T.R.A so has our means of communicating with all our residents altered. Our plan for the future is to produce an e-newsletter instead of paper copies. We therefore ask all residents who would like to carry on receiving our newsletter to please contact us via email. We will still produce some hard copies of the newsletter for those who are not connected to the Internet. Everyone else will receive it as an attachment in an email. We will be handing out one more leaflet to the whole estate and all the details you will need will be on that leaflet. There will also be an opportunity for you to register your address to receive a copy through your letter box, if you prefer. If you have anything you would like us to write about in the next newsletter please send us an email with your idea or post it through the T.A Hall letter box and we will get back in touch with you. You can also join us on facebook - St Matthews T.R.A - were we talk about estate matters on a daily basis. You can post pictures there of anything regarding our estate and local area .
